Commonwealth Honors College builds on a long tradition of honors education at UMass Amherst. The College opened its doors in 1999 and has since welcomed more than ten incoming classes of high-achieving students. Together with members of the College's predecessor, the Honors Program, more than 10,000 alumni have enjoyed the benefits of honors education at UMass Amherst.
Honors alumni have valued the opportunities for advanced coursework, close interaction with faculty and participation in undergraduate research. They have leveraged their education and experience at UMass Amherst to pursue graduate degrees in a wide range of fields and careers in every sector. They start their own businesses, join and lead established companies, conduct research, and work for change in the world—and often emerge as leaders in their communities.
Honors students come to campus carrying impressive transcripts and leave as university alumni with a quality education, a record of accomplishments and a world of connections.
