This week I’m focusing on completing tasks. Simple, right? I wish.
Now that we’ve hit the mid-semester mark (I know, shocking), I’m making this week a "power week" to get through all of the assignments I have to do and everything else I’ve been keeping on the back burner. We both know the second half of this semester absolutely flies as we head into holiday season and all around cold weather hibernation mode. We gotta stay on our game.
The first thing of course is prioritization. This is the one that really gets me. There will always be tasks and assignments that need immediate attention. So those things on the back burner? They just stay there. I’ve decided Saturday is back burner day. No matter what else is going on, I have to get through my “carry over from last week” to do list that's been growing since September.
The second thing is outlining what the rest of the semester is going to look like. For me that means updating any changed (or forgotten) due dates in my google calendar, setting realistic goals for thesis progression and completion (*starts hyperventilating*), and checking on my grades with my professors to make sure I’m where I want to be.
The third thing is organization. If you used the fridge in my apartment as a metaphor for my apartment mates and my lives, it'd be pretty accurate. Messy, overfilled, along with some questionable choices and long overdue issues that need to be handled. I find it really hard to focus on school work when my living environment is messy. At the same time, I find it really hard to maintain a neat living environment. This week, I have to do both.
Wish me luck.
See you around,
PS - hope you enjoyed the family fun throw back pic!
