Kavita Shah ‘18, a CHC student has been named one of the Commonwealth’s “29 Who Shine” this year.
In May 2011, the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education launched "29 Who Shine", a commencement season awards program to recognize 29 outstanding student graduates from the Commonwealth’s public higher education system. Each honoree from a community college, state university or University of Massachusetts campus is nominated by a faculty or staff member, or by a university awards committee.
Shah wrote her thesis on disparities in dental health care in the US, with specific focus on recent legislative initiatives in Massachusetts. She is the president of the Pre-Dental Society, through which she recruited volunteers to offer health care to uninsured individuals. She has also volunteered extensively as vice president and one of the founders of Delta Kappa Delta Sorority.
Shah will enroll in the Columbia College of Dental Medicine.
