The Alliantgroup Blue Heart Fund STEM Scholarship Program recently awarded a $10,000 scholarship to Elana Carleton, a Commonwealth Honors College freshman majoring in biochemistry & molecular biology. The company headquarters in Houston, Texas, held a ceremony on November 7, awarding scholarships to Carleton and thirty other students.
Carleton is a member of the biological science majors' Talent Advanced Program residential academic program, the BioTAP RAP, and is secretary of the UMass Genetics Club.
“I love BioTAP because I am able to live with people who share common goals and passions," Carleton said. "The program is challenging and encourages me to constantly push myself to my full potential.”
Applicants submitted a short YouTube video or a 500-world essay in which they described their interest in STEM and how the scholarship would help them achieve their goals. The scholarship is exclusively for university tuition and related expenses. Visit here for more info.
