Welcome back to another episode of Gracing Through Campus! Have you ever wondered what it is like to attend a fitness class on campus? Well, you have come to the right place.    Out of pure curiosity and interest, Grace adventures to the Campus Recreation Center to take a Cardio Kickboxing class. Grace sits down with Rachel Lindskog, a fitness instructor and student at UMass to get an inside look at health and wellness classes on campus.
Day 37 of Midterms: I have come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as “Midterms Week.” It’s all a lie to make us feel better and encourage us to trudge ahead! There was a series of intense weeks in October and the assessments have not since ceased. I’ve got it pretty easy compared to some of my friends who are still getting multiple exams in a day, but this was supposed to end! I can feel the madness creeping upon us! I think we’re going to burst if we don’t escape this whirlpool of papers and tests!... Read More
Happy Veteran’s Day! For those of us with friends or family who’ve been in the armed forces, this is a wonderful day to reflect upon their noble sacrifices and the politics that sometimes forced them to make those sacrifices needlessly. For just about everyone else though, it’s an excuse to relax. Hey, everyone needs a break, so I’m not about to judge. I just hope that the people I’m seeing with the bags under their eyes aren’t feeling their hangovers too acutely. It’s college, so when you hear you’ve got the next... Read More
Ever had a sense of déjà vu? You know, when you’ve got the feeling that you’ve experienced something already, though you’re sure you haven’t? They can certainly be entertaining, but more often than not I find them alarming.

They usually recall some memory from years ago and I’m struck by how much time has passed and by how vivid the memory is still. My old man talks about when he gets those moments except that, instead of the fifth anniversary of my first breakup, he’s talking about the fiftieth... Read More
Welcome to the second half of the semester, or as we should call it, the best time of year to have an unlimited meal plan. Halloween may be over, but it was just the kickoff to the holiday eating season.   My weekend started Friday, when my roommates and I opened up our Halloween pinata filled with Reese’s, M&M's, and Milky Ways. We didn’t have it in us to hit him with the bat, but we had no problem eating all the candy inside.  Saturday morning, my aunt and uncle drove out here to see me, all the way from... Read More

Welcome to my blog! In general, this will be about how my father’s advice and bad jokes have helped me to thrive in college and get through life. Maybe they’ll help you too! You might see things in here that are not typically school sanctioned, but I try to be honest about UMass because you readers deserve to know what you’re getting into. That includes both the bad and the beautiful.   Also, at the end of each blog, I'll post a "Song of the Week" with a link to YouTube included. Enjoy the wisdom of my old man and... Read More
Kate, Every day UMass proves to me how lucky I am to have come here considering all the things I didn’t take into consideration when choosing where to go to college. When I was a senior in high school I was too bitter about not getting money from what I thought was my number one school, or fulfilling everyone’s expectation to think about the aspects of college life that actually matter. I was too worried about name recognition, and campus aesthetics to consider the important things – like food. You read that right... Read More
Kate,   Due to unavoidable scheduling issues, I now have to wake up before the sun in order to get to the gym. I get it, high school students and full time workers do it every day, it’s just getting my college student internal clock to readjust has been rough to say the least.   It’s only 10 a.m. as I’m writing this and I’m already ready for a nap, but before I run for coffee I have an important point for you: as you decide where you want to end up next year (highly) consider going somewhere with a nice gym.  ...   (Co-authored by Avery Hennigar, Emily King, Zac Bears, and Marie MacCune) 1. When Mom misses your old friends more than you do: Mom: Why hasn’t (insert name of high school friend you haven’t spoken to since move-in day freshman year) been over lately? You: Um… we’ve just been really busy, you know. Mom: Well, you should invite her over with the rest of the old gang for a slumber party. You: Sure, I’ll text them right now (You say as you delete the contact so she can’t call them herself... Read More
