The Louis and Hilda Greenbaum Gallery, located in 302 Elm House in the Commonwealth Honors College Residential Community, is open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday when classes are in session. The gallery hosts exhibitions throughout the year using photographs from the University Archives.
It opened in October 2013 and was later dedicated as the Louis and Hilda Greenbaum Gallery in June of the following year. Emeritus Professor Louis Greenbaum was a UMass Amherst professor of history for over thirty years, recipient of the Distinguished Teacher Award and founding director of the university’s former Honors Program. Inspired by the progress that honors education has made in the past fifty years, Greenbaum and his wife, Hilda, donated $250,000 to support the CHC Residential Community. Greenbaum has championed undergraduate education for over 60 years.
