Two honors students (preferably going into their junior year and wanting to do an honors thesis) wanted for this summer to conduct experiments on flies and help maintain the fly colonies.

One student will perform experiments that will focus on the bacterium E. coli and the house fly, which is the known vector of the bacteria while the other student will research the importance of the adipokinetic hormone, which is similar to glucagon in humans, on crop contractions in the blowfly, Phormia regina.

The starting dates are flexible, but mainly interested in someone to start following classes and terminating late August, just prior to the start of the fall semester.
