Incoming First-Year Students

UMass Amherst offers both merit and need-based scholarships to incoming first-year students who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in a variety of scholarly, extracurricular, and leadership activities. As an academically talented student, you may qualify. Your application for admission to the university serves as your application for these scholarships. No separate application form is needed. If you are selected, you will be notified in writing by the Undergraduate Admissions Office. Please note that Commonwealth Honors College does not evaluate applications for admission to CHC or for scholarships for incoming first-year students.

Currently Matriculated Students

Commonwealth Honors College offers financial support to matriculated students in two ways: scholarships and research grants and fellowships.

You may qualify for scholarships available from Commonwealth Honors College. You must be enrolled at the university, having attended at least one semester, and also be a member of Commonwealth Honors College to apply. Below are descriptions of scholarships we offer. Research grants and fellowships are available to students to support their research for their honors thesis or project or to gain experience in research in their academic field. You must be a member of Commonwealth Honors College in order to apply. Please see below for more information on honors research grants and fellowships. Presidential and Alumni ScholarshipsThe University of Massachusetts undergraduate campuses offer a set of named scholarships that are administered by the University's Office of the President. Each campus provides nominations that are then forwarded to the President's Office. The names of the winners are announced after the final selections are made by the President's Office. Learn more about eligibility and application information
